DXP2800 RAM upgrade: the short answer

The UGREEN DXP2800 ships with 8 GB of DDR5 in its only memory slot, and UGREEN states a maximum of 16 GB. With 1 slot there is nothing to add a module to: a RAM upgrade means taking out the pre-installed module and fitting one 16 GB module from UGREEN’s list in its place.

This page lays out every module on UGREEN’s DXP2800 memory list, marks which ones actually raise the memory, and explains the one listed module that is larger than UGREEN’s own maximum.

From UGREEN’s specs UGREEN DXP2800
Memory installed 8 GB DDR5
Memory slots 1 SODIMM slot, with 1 module pre-installed
Maximum memory, per UGREEN 16 GB
CPU Intel N100

If 1 slot and a 16 GB ceiling fit your plans, this is where to find the UGREEN DXP2800.

The memory modules on UGREEN’s DXP2800 list

UGREEN keeps one memory list per NAS model and per region, in its compatibility tool (opens in a new tab). We read the DXP2800 lists for the US, UK and EU. The table groups the modules by what they do in a DXP2800 with 1 slot and 8 GB pre-installed, in the order of UGREEN’s US list within each group. Module codes are copied exactly as UGREEN’s list shows them.

Module (brand and code) Capacity Type and speed In the DXP2800 On UGREEN’s lists for Verification level
Acclamator B0DR2PXNMQ 16 GB DDR5 5600MHz Upgrade to the 16 GB maximum US, UK, EU Manufacturer
Kingston KVR56S46BS8-16 16 GB DDR5 5600MHz Upgrade to the 16 GB maximum US, UK, EU Manufacturer
Samsung M425R2GA3BB0-CQKOL 16 GB DDR5 4800MHz Upgrade to the 16 GB maximum US, UK, EU Manufacturer
Kingston CBD56S46BS8KA-16 16 GB DDR5 5600MHz Upgrade to the 16 GB maximum US, UK, EU Manufacturer
Samsung M425R2GA3BB0-CWM 16 GB DDR5 5600MHz Upgrade to the 16 GB maximum US only Manufacturer
KLEVV KD5BGSA80-56G460A 32 GB DDR5 5600MHz Larger than UGREEN’s stated 16 GB maximum (see below) US, UK, EU Manufacturer
Kingston KVR56S46BS6-8 8 GB DDR5 5600MHz Same 8 GB as shipped: a replacement US, UK, EU Manufacturer
SK hynix HMCG66MEBSA092N 8 GB DDR5 4800MHz Same 8 GB as shipped: a replacement US, UK, EU Manufacturer
Samsung M425R1GB4BB0-CQKOL 8 GB DDR5 4800MHz Same 8 GB as shipped: a replacement US, UK, EU Manufacturer
Samsung M425R1GB4BB0-CWM 8 GB DDR5 5600MHz Same 8 GB as shipped: a replacement US, EU Manufacturer
Samsung M425R1GB4PB0-CWM 8 GB DDR5 5600MHz Same 8 GB as shipped: a replacement US only Manufacturer
SK hynix HMCG66AGBSA092N AA 8 GB DDR5 5600MHz Same 8 GB as shipped: a replacement US, UK, EU Manufacturer

SK hynix HMCG66AGBSA095N AA 8 GB DDR5 5600MHz Same 8 GB as shipped: a replacement US, UK, EU Manufacturer

Two details in the codes matter when you search for a module: the two Samsung codes ending in “-CQKOL” have the letter O where a zero might be expected, and the three SK hynix codes in the “HMCG66AGBSA” family end with a space and two letters (AA or BA). Buying in the UK

  • Samsung M425R2GA3BB0-CWM, 16 GB: on UGREEN’s US list only, not on its UK list (lists checked: US, UK, EU). That leaves four 16 GB modules on the UK list: the Acclamator, the two Kingston modules and the Samsung M425R2GA3BB0-CQKOL in the table above.
  • Samsung M425R1GB4BB0-CWM, 8 GB: on UGREEN’s US and EU lists, not on its UK list (lists checked: US, UK, EU).
  • Samsung M425R1GB4PB0-CWM, 8 GB: on UGREEN’s US list only, not on its UK list (lists checked: US, UK, EU).

What the numbers mean for a DXP2800 RAM upgrade

One slot: you replace the module, you don’t add one

UGREEN’s manual shows 1 SODIMM slot with 1 module pre-installed, and the product page states 8 GB installed. Which means the pre-installed module holds all 8 GB, and any module you fit goes in its place: the total after the swap is the capacity of the new module, not 8 GB plus the new one. A 16 GB module takes the DXP2800 from 8 GB to UGREEN’s 16 GB maximum, twice the shipped memory.

Only five of the 14 listed modules raise the memory

UGREEN’s US list for the DXP2800 has 14 modules. Five are 16 GB and are the upgrade; eight are 8 GB, the same capacity as the shipped memory, so fitting one changes the module but not the total; one is 32 GB, above UGREEN’s stated maximum. On the UK list, which has 11 modules, four are 16 GB (see “Buying in the UK” above).

The 32 GB module and the 16 GB maximum

UGREEN’s DXP2800 list includes one 32 GB module, the KLEVV KD5BGSA80-56G460A (32 GB), on the US, UK and EU lists. Two other UGREEN sources give 16 GB: the DXP2800 product page, under expandable RAM, and the general note on the same memory list, which reads: “According to the Intel official website, N100 CPU supports 16GB DDR5 4800MHz in maximum; and G8505 & i3-1215U & i5-1235U and i7-1255U CPU support 64GB DDR5 4800MHz in maximum. Exceeding official specs may affect compatibility and stability.” The DXP2800 runs on the Intel N100. UGREEN doesn’t explain why a 32 GB module is on the list, so this page doesn’t say whether it works or doesn’t. The maximum UGREEN states for the DXP2800 is 16 GB.

The 64GB in UGREEN’s general note is for two-slot models

Another general note on UGREEN’s memory list, shared by all models, reads: “When using two memory modules, it is recommended to match the same brand and model, such as 16+16GB or 32+32GB. Maximum support is up to 64GB.” It is about models with two memory slots. The DXP2800 has 1, so that figure doesn’t apply to it.

Speed: 4800MHz and 5600MHz modules on the same list

UGREEN’s note on memory speed reads: “For DDR4 supported models, choose laptop memory modules of 2666MHz or higher. For DDR5 supported models, choose laptop memory modules of 4800MHz or higher.” The DXP2800 takes DDR5 in a SODIMM slot, the laptop form factor. Its list has 4800MHz and 5600MHz modules side by side, and the Intel note quoted above pairs the N100 with the lower of the two speeds. No UGREEN source says at what speed a 5600MHz module runs in the DXP2800, so this page doesn’t state one.

Brands UGREEN recommends, and “compatible” modules

UGREEN’s last general note on the memory list reads: “It is recommended to buy such major brands as Samsung, Kioxia and Kingston. Gloway is not recommended.” A module sold as “compatible” with the DXP2800 counts only if its exact code is on UGREEN’s list; this page covers only the codes UGREEN names.

What to buy with it

UGREEN’s note on its hard-drive list reads: “Recommended to use major brand NAS drives, such as Seagate IronWolf series and Western Digital Red Plus/Pro series“. This page doesn’t link a memory module: pick a module from UGREEN’s list above and check the exact code before you buy.
